It's often not easy to piece together a recruiting class after a coaching change, and new Arizona State Coach Todd Graham had only six weeks on the job. He retained 12 players who had been committed to ASU under former Coach Dennis Erickson, added a local star in running back D.J. Foster of Scottsdale Saguaro High, and ended up with a 23-player class ranked as high as 33rd nationally by 247Sports. What could end up making or breaking the class is the high number of junior college transfers—nine of them. Included among them are running back Marion Grice (considered the top JC prospect at his position), linebacker Steffon Martin and safety Chris Young. "It doesn't matter to me whether they're high school or junior college,'' Graham said in the Arizona Republic.

As if Air Force didn't have enough upheaval, with 16 starters graduating, it also will have a new defensive coordinator. Defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt left Air Force after two years running the defense to become Texas A&M's linebackers coach.

Longtime Rutgers assistant Kyle Flood was officially named head coach of the Scarlet Knights, replacing the departed Greg Schiano. Flood, 41, had been a member of Schiano's staff since 2005, working his way up from coaching offensive linemen to assistant head coach.

Isaiah Pead took a stutter step forward, then raced to the left sideline and traveled 60 yards up the field before finally getting tripped up by a leg tackle. The former Cincinnati running back followed that nifty punt return with a 38-yarder a couple of minutes later, late in the first half, to play a starring role Saturday in the North's 23-13 victory over the South in the Senior Bowl.

The Arizona St. Sun Devils finished the 2011 season with a 6-7 record and a 4-5 record in conference play. In 2012, the Sun Devils will play non-conference games against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, Illinois Fighting Illini, and Missouri Tigers.
